Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration

Commercial Flooding Restoration for Knoxville Office Space

After a weekend away from the office, employees returned to the Knoxville building the following Monday morning to find more than an inch of water through a large portion of the structure. While burst pipes were to blame for this situation, it did not impact the fast response of our SERVPRO team to begin cleaning up the office and preventing the incident from getting worse. Once our professionals were notified of the damage, our pre-stocked trailers of our Green Fleet rolled onto the scene to get water mitigation started.

Protecting What Matters Most in Your Knoxville Office

Before much of the mitigation work can get underway, our technicians determined what furniture, equipment, electronics, and documents were in the path of migrating standing water or moisture. Much of the impacted furniture and devices from the damaged areas could get relocated to another level of the building or adjacent rooms where water damage was not a threat, so that we had adequate space for restoration to begin.

Water Damage Mitigation Solutions

As you can see in the Before Photo, water had exceeded the absorption limitations for the traditional low-pile office carpet materials. Pooling had spread into multiple rooms, as this burst pipe had been flowing throughout the weekend until its discovery at the beginning of the week. After relocating contents and furniture, our SERVPRO team selected the appropriate extraction tools to begin water removal services. The Before Photo shows a discharge line from one of our extraction units to move standing water to the nearest drain point.

Fortunately for this commercial customer, vinyl trim was installed as baseboard throughout the entire office building, which allowed the moisture migration into the drywall behind it to be minimal. Flood cuts were minimal to prevent wicking up the surface of the wall system. Though the After Photo is a transitional image, new vinyl coving and the lower portion of sheetrock would be installed and paint matched.

The carpets required removal in the most heavily damaged areas, exposing the concrete base in many parts of the office. The carpet was being dried off-site to allow axial air movers and other evaporative drying equipment the opportunity to remove the moisture from this subflooring. Removing this carpet allowed for a more accurate inspection and assurance that hidden moisture caches were not present that could ultimately facilitate mold growth.

Meeting the Needs of Your Knoxville Business

Because Knoxville business owners cannot predict when disasters like you see in the Before Photo might occur, our SERVPRO professionals encourage entrepreneurs and property managers to take advantage of our free proactive Emergency READY Profile Plan. This ERP provides critical information to responding technicians to ensure that when water, fire, or storm damage situations occur, we manage it efficiently. This app helps to show the location of shut-off valves, for example, which were critical in stopping the flow of water to the office building for this restoration project or insurance information to know where our timely estimates are expected after job scoping.
